Farewell Keyboardist Quits for ‘Romantic Stability’, Band Currently Seeking New Member

Farewell have officially begun the search for a new keyboardist after long-time member Chris Lee‘s departure. The band is looking for the best possible back-up singer and keyboard player. Is that you?

“We have so many things going on right now, I’m not sure where to begin…,” singer Marshall Davis began in a recent MySpace blog. “I guess I’ll start with the bad news first. If you were at any of the Warped Tour dates we played in Canada or the last one in Boston you probably heard that our keyboardist Chris [Lee] has left the band. He has been a friend and band-member since the early days and we are sad to see him go, but we ask that you have trust in the fact that this is best for both Chris and Farewell. All I can say is that he has different priorities now then when we started, so he’s left in pursuit of romantic and monetary stability. With that said, I WANT TO REASSURE YOU ALL THAT WE ARE NOT LOSING ANY STEAM DUE TO THIS. If anything, it has opened us up to more possibilities, cause a person whose heart isn’t in the music is no good to a band.”

If you are interested in auditioning for Farewell, you should send an email to FarewellAuditions@gmail.com with all of your information, but first … you should probably read over what the band is looking for: a good singer with high vocal range with both piano and synth skills, the means to travel to North Carolina in August for tryouts, touring experience and ‘you must be a team player,’ according to Davis. If you realllly want to impress the band … a passport and your own equipment will do the trick!

Do you think you have what it takes to be in Farewell? Are you currently in a band of your own? Discuss in the comments section.

Is Emo the New Musical Scapegoat?

Our friends at TheGauntlet have posted an insightful new editorial that takes a look at how emo has seemingly become the new scapegoat in music, as made obvious by the recent anti-emo events in Russia. Take a look at the interesting article right here.

The Ting Tings Singer Katie White Gets Personal Behind Closed Doors

You may have seen The Ting Tings‘ music video for “Shut Up and Let Me Go,” bought their debut record, We Started Nothing, or maybe you have even see them live …  but I’m guessing you didn’t know about singer Katie White‘s morning bathroom routine, fetishes and very first job.

Buzznet: Do you have a morning bathroom routine?

Katie: No routines here. We’re touring a lot so getting up is a pain after a late night. It’s a case of get wet, get dry, get out quick.

Buzznet: Who was your first kiss? Details … How old were you? Where were you?

Katie: My first kiss was with a boy from school, we were both 12 and we kept doing it for 2 seconds and running off. He tasted like sherbot lemons.

Buzznet: What do you have hanging on your walls in your bedroom? Posters? Artwork?

Katie: I live in a place where the wall tiles are so old and over varnished that all my posters I attempted to hang over the months don’t stay up more than a few days. The room looks like a huge flappy cheese grater.

Buzznet: Do you have any fetishes? Any pet-peeves?

Katie: I like textures. Sometimes you feel something and it takes you back to
something that you can’t place but know it existed. I like feeling
textures.

Buzznet: What is the first quality you look for in the opposite sex?

Katie: Eyes, smile. It’s hard for guys these days, us girls aren’t fooled so easy anymore.

Buzznet: What do you wear to sleep at night?

Katie: Nothing unless I can find my pajamas.

Buzznet: Do you have a nickname?

Katie: Toids. That’s what [drummer, guitarist, vocals] Jules [De Martino] calls me. It’s short for Katoids. I have no idea why he calls me this.

Buzznet: What was your first job? What was your worst job?

Katie: Pulling pints in a local pub. I had to wear a brewers t-shirt 5 times too big for me.

Buzznet: If you could be in the Summer Olympics which sport would you compete in?

Katie: Show jumping. Love watching it.

Buzznet: What song do you know every word to, but are totally embarrassed that you know so well?

Katie: I have an ability to remember words from songs from one listen. I sing songs I hear around me.

Buzznet: What text message or voicemail do you regret sending to someone so much that you will never forget doing it? Who was the person?

Katie: Not happened to me. I’m rubbish with mobiles … always need charging.

Buzznet: Which era do you most wish you lived in and why?

Katie: I think the 60′s. It’s been said so many time before but it all exploded then.

Buzznet: Do you have any scars? If so what happened? If not name one imperfection on your body?

Katie: My arms bend outwards when I over straighten them.

Buzznet: If we gave you sourdough bread and you could put anything on your sandwich what would it be?

Katie: Olive oil.

Buzznet: When you hear the word “oatmeal” what is the very first thing that comes to your mind?

Katie: Horses.

Alexisonfire: Dead or Alive?

In the past few weeks rumors have spread about the breakup of Alexisonfire. Guitarist Wade MacNeil has stepped forward to set the record straight.

“Things I’ve said in other interviews were totally taken out of context. The truth is that we’re actually writing a new record. Don’t fret!” MacNeil revealed to Kerrang!  That record will become the band’s fourth full-length and followup to 2006′s Crisis.

The band has three gigs scheduled which should serve as further proof that Alexisonfire is not dead.

Alesixonfire tour dates:

8.3: Grand Bend, ON @ Cutting Edge (Grand Bend Motoplex)
8.22: Leeds, UK @ Bramham Park (Leeds Festival)

Dying to see MacNeil up close and personal? He’ll be touring the U.K. and Canada between August and September with his punk side-project Black Lungs (featuring members of Cancer Bats, Moneen and Alexisonfire singer George Pettit on bass duties). “I’m going to be playing a lot of the clubs that Alexis[onfire] played when we first came over. It’s always a blast to play shows that size!” Black Lungs, of which MacNeil is the singer for, released its debut full-length, Send Flowers, in Canda last month.
