Anberlin to Play For Your ‘Acceptance’ on Upcoming U.S. Tour
Anberlin is touring this fall with Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Straylight Run and There For Tomorrow and the band has just announced a very special guest who be joining them on stage nightly.

“WOW … tour starts next week!!” the band exclaimed in a message to Absolutepunk. ” I don’t think we have mentioned it before
now, but we are putting together a very special show for you guys! One
of the special things we’re proud to announce is that we will be
bringing Kyle Flynn from Acceptance along with us to make the show
sound even sweeter. He will be doing key’s, loops, acoustic, vocals – a
little of everything!!”
Acceptance formed in 1998 and called it quits after only one album, Phantoms, in 2005. Guitarist Christian McAlhaney joined Anberlin in 2007 after guitarist Nathan Strayer left the band.
Anberlin recently stopped by the Buzznet studio to perform some songs acoustically as part of our Resonate series.

Travis McCoy Partially Responsible for Katy Perry’s Success
There’s no arguing that Katy Perry‘s “I Kissed a Girl” was one of the biggest songs of the summer, if not the year, but would you believe that Perry almost left it off 2008′s One of the Boys!?

“As soon as Katy played ‘I Kissed A Girl’ to me, I said: ‘Baby, this is a smash,’ Gym Class Heroes singer (and boyfriend) Travis McCoy told The Daily Star. “I totally knew from the word go, but she wasn’t so sure. She was like: ‘Do you really think so?’”
McCoy, certain that “I Kissed a Girl” would dominate the mainstream, conducted an experiment to further convince Perry. “When Gym Class Heroes went on tour earlier this year we put together a playlist of songs to play before we went on stage. I put ‘I Kissed A Girl’ on there without Katy knowing and as soon as it blasted out the kids went absolutely mad. They didn’t even know who Katy Perry was then. Katy turned up to one gig while we were playing it and was like: ‘What are you doing?’ She was happy with the reaction though.”
And what about the Gym Class Heroes / Katy Perry you’ve been waiting for? When Buzznet interviewed bassist Eric Roberts at Warped Tour on August 17, he avoided the question, giving off an ‘anything is possible’ response. McCoy seemed more certain that it won’t happen. “We’re Travis and Katy, not Sonny and Cher. We give each other’s music constructive criticism, but that’s it. Fortunately the rest of Gym Class Heroes love her. She’s no Yoko [Ono]. My bandmates have admitted she’s the first girlfriend I’ve gone out with that they can stand.”
Back in August, Perry’s mother, Mary Hudson, voiced her own opinion (which Perry later denied) on the now-hit song: “I hate the song. It clearly promotes homosexuality and its message is
shameful and disgusting. Katy knows how I feel. We are a very outspoken
family and she knows how disappointed her father and I are. I can’t
even listen to that song. The first time I heard it I was in total
shock. When it comes on the radio I bow my head and pray.”
Do you think McCoy did the right thing by proving to Perry that “I Kissed a Girl” was a hit, or would the World be a better place without it?
