No matter how brutal, we want to hear all the gory details!

The specs:

- Please keep your piece to between 300 – 500 words.
- Please email all submissions to aar@buzznet.com by 5:00pm Pacific time on Dec. 1st.

Travis McCoy Explains ‘Brooklyn Basement’, Future of Tequila Mockingbird

Did you know that Gym Class Heroes‘ singer Travis McCoy has an indie-meets-hop-hop side project called Tequila Mockingbird with his friend, and part Angels & Kings owner, Nicholas Scimeca? Of course you did! Well the duo finally have posted an update on what’s to come …

“Just a reminder, Nick and I were on some other sh** when we did this, I posted it a long time ago, McCoy announced in a recent post on Scimeca’s blog. “We used autotune in good taste WELL before it became the new Kufeyah Scarves. This song means so much to me in so many ways [referring to "Brooklyn Basement"].

McCoy goes on to further explain his attachment to the song, explaining, “I still get the pee pee chills when I hear it. TURN IT UP LOUD, it’s unmixed. I think we may redo it without autotune, I think it takes away from it anyways. Perhaps an acoustic version bonus round. I wrote ‘Brooklyn Basement’ 2 1/2 years ago when I was living in Bushwick Brooklyn, in a basement apartment, with no windows. One of the most depressing times of my life, I’m sorry Jodie……………”

For those of you who are sick of hearing the same two songs on the band’s MySpace page, you will be pleased to hear that new music is coming …… eventually! “Tequila Mockingbird EP- Yeah, But I Didn’t Kiss Her is still coming, things have just been crazy in TravieWorld lately.”

And by crazy, McCoy means the band’s consistent touring in support of the Gym Class Heroes‘ 2008 full-length, The Quilt. In fact, GCH just announced a few days ago that they would be playing some shows in December with T-Pain and Lil’ Wayne.

Are you interested in a full EP from Tequila Mockingbird or would you rather Gym Class Heroes begin working on their next record?

Travis Barker Talks Recovery With TRL: ‘I’m Already Playing My Drums Again’

Travis Barker appeared on MTV’s Total Finale Live via satellite last night for his first televised interview since his September plane crash. While brief, Barker did give us an update on his drumming, which many feared would suffer due to the burns on both his hands …

“I’m already playing my drums again and I’m already back in the studio,” Barker declared, when asked by host Damien Fay about the possibilty of making new music. “It was like
riding a bike. It was really exciting to know I still have my chops. It still felt
good. I still can make it around the kit. Everything felt right, so I’m
thankful to be able to play.”

Barker went on to discuss TRL’s impact on Blink-182‘s career, specifically after the “What’s My Age Again?” video began to air daily on the show, explaining, “Oh my gosh. After we were on TRL, our audience got so much bigger. We were exposed to a whole different audience of people.”

Barker did not mention anything about his current band with Mark Hoppus, +44, or the followup to 2006′s When Your Heart Stops Beating, but it’s safe to assume that once Barker is feeling up to the challenge, recording will be underway. I mean, could you really picture Barker not playing drums for the rest of his life!?

How did Barker’s first televised interview make you feel? Are you happy that he’s back playing drums or do you think he should be at home resting?
