Die Antwoord Scores A Record Deal And Plans To Work With “District 9″ Director

Tweets and videos started to circulate the internet a few months ago about the music of Die Antwoord. If you were one of the ones following these tweets then you probably clicked a link and heard a whole-lotta noise. That noise can be accredited to the mega-core rap phenomenon Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek (Die Antwoord).

Today the South African rap-ravers known as Die Antwoord closed the deal and made it official with Interscope Records. But that is not all for our favorite folks from Cape Town — they also sealed a deal and their next music video will be directed by Neill Blomkamp, the director of District 9.

Keep your eyes pealed and your feet ready for mad movement, because Die Antwoord will no longer be your internet obsession, they will soon be in your face in your very own hometown. Afterall, they can’t stay hidden for long with all of this hype around them. It is not confirmed, but it is possible that Coachella might be in their plans very soon.

Paramore to Headline Honda Civic Tour 2010!

I got an e-mail today alerting me of this tour news

Paramore to headline 2010 Honda Civic Tour!!!

I find it kind of odd that the honda civic tour is touting its “Legacy” and “Heritage” all of the sudden.

Could this mean its the last year? The show HAS been around since 2001.

A close up of the page:

I clicked on the Tour Heritage link and it showed me each year of the Honda Civic tour and video’s of what each band’s “cars” looked like.

The Blink 182 car was SO LAME on the first ever Honda Civic Tour in 2001!!!

Like… really?!?!?!?

One of my favorites, as far as looks go, was the Black Eyed Peas Civic:

And I KNOW y’all liked the Panic! at the Disco Civic:

Related to that, watch ryan fall trying to get out of the above Civic:

RyRo Falls DOWWWwwwwwnnnn

The big bummer right now is that the dates and tickets page looks like this at the moment:

I know I’m excited for this tour. Maybe I’ll FINALLY get to see Paramore live! (I never have!) Are you going????????

OH! According to PR Newswire (so this is not official, I don’t know what their source is) joining Paramore on the tour will be:

Tegan and Sara

More info on that site, though it is not what is posted on the official site, thus, might be false.

What bands do you want to see join Paramore on this tour? What do you think about Tegan and Sara? Can they ever top the Fall Out Boy Honda Civic tour, or the Panic! at the Disco tour? And most importantly, are you going?

“Remember Me” Is Beautiful And So Is Robert Pattinson

WARNING: If you have a weakness for introverts or men with a mysterious personality, you will get weak in the knees for Robert Pattinson’s intellectual, nihilistic character, Tyler Hawkins, in Remember Me.

Robert Pattinson
is beautiful in this film, but you didn’t really need me to tell you that. After all, you’ve seen this guy before. For all you Twi-hards out there, you should know that he doesn’t need to be Edward Cullen to have total sex appeal. Team Jacob will soon realize that R. Pattz proves his worth as an actor and a stud without having supernatural powers. I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, but this movie is really about love, the importance of family, and living a passionate life like each day is the last.

We can’t always relate to family tragedies like a suicide, or a parent figure passing away, but anyone with a heart can grasp the importance in a relationship between two people who have shared and suffered through similar fates. Sometimes we get too caught up in our own heads to remember the purpose of life and it takes having a special connection with one person to remember that our existence is not pointless- that who you are and what you do in life does actually matter.

You will adore the character Caroline Hawkins, who is played by the young actress Ruby Jerins. Caroline is the younger sister of Tyler Hawkins (Pattinson) and she is also one of the most powerful parts in the film. Tyler and Caroline rely on eachother for life support, but Caroline is eager for love from her father (Pierce Bronson) and Tyler is also seeking direction and perspective, he just doesn’t know what he needs.

At the begining of the film, Tyler Hawkins (Pattinson) struggles to connect with his father, he doesn’t find happiness in living up the college life with his roomate Tate Ellington (Aidan Hall), his sister is his pride and joy, and the library is his safe haven away from disaster.

Emilie De Ravin who plays Ally Craig, brings light and smiles into Tyler’s life and the film. Ally (De Ravin) eats her dessert before she eats her dinner, because what if the world (her world) ended before she got what she really wanted. I am not really a sweets person, but if dessert was what I really wanted then I would totally see her point about eating it first.

Sometimes you watch a movie and you can’t relate to any of the hardships or struggles the characters are going through, but it still makes you cry. Other times you find that you have been in similar situations as one of the characters and feel immediately connected. Some people watch movies and just take them for what they are, but don’t try to relate. Personally, I am incapable of separating myself from what is on the screen, playing in my headphones, or on the page of the book I am reading. Maybe I am a dramatic person who lets my emotions take over, but I believe that art was meant to reach people and help us connect to one another.

I believe it is healthy to let something that someone else created touch you once in a while. If I leave a movie feeling no emotion whatsoever, then in my opinion that movie sucked. Even if it evokes a few laughs it still doesn’t cut it with me. But when I leave the theatre hysterically crying and thinking about nothing but the line “live in the moments,” that is the type of movie I would recommend people go see (tissues at hand of course).

I just hope that Twilight haters don’t stay at home because they fear they’ll be judged for seeing a movie that stars R. Pattz. This film was neither written for nor intended to reach fans of Twilight, but Remember Me might just open the eyes of those who think they aren’t impressionable. Remember Me hits theatres March 12th.

The Big Pink Blast Through Los Angeles, CA 3/9/10

English noise pop band, The Big Pink, came storming through Los Angeles with their stop at the El Rey Theatre on Tuesday. The LA crowd was lively and ready for the Brits to bring their noise.

The Big Pink is on tour in support of their debut album, A Brief History of Love. With their single, Dominos, word quickly spread about the band and gained a large amount of popularity. Their sound is inspired by bands such as the Velvet Underground, Cocteau Twins, and My Bloody Valentine.

The central element of a Big Pink show is noise and lots of it at very high volume. Vocalist/guitarist, Robbie Furze, was dressed in a leather jacket, looking like Marc Almond in his new wave era. Furze hammered away at his strings while stomping at various pedals beneath his feet. Keyboardist, Milo Cordell, played violently nearly dropping his entire set onto the crowd. The band was an explosion of energy to match that of the the sound that blasted out the speakers. The show left me with a smile on my face and my ears ringing for several hours after. The Big Pink had the girls of Los Angeles falling like dominos.

The Big Pink are definitely a force not to be reckoned with and are on the verge of becoming the next big thing.
