Black Keys Talk Arena Tour, El Camino Follow-Up
Band already having discussions about a new album — but need to find time to do it.

Next month, the Black Keys will kick off their first-ever North American arena tour, an accomplishment the dynamic duo never thought possible 10 years ago, when they were mowing lawns (and working the buffet circuit) in their hometown of Akron, Ohio.
And, truth be told, they’re still trying to wrap their heads around playing such massive venues, though, thanks to the success of their Brothers and El Camino albums, they’re slowly beginning to realize that things have changed — for the best, of course.
“Things are obviously different; we’re playing arenas everywhere, and it’s crazy,” frontman Dan Auerbach told MTV News. “I don’t know; it’s all very new for us. I think we’re still trying to get used to the idea of playing such big shows wherever we go.”
“[When we first started], I’d never even been to a concert that was larger than maybe 2,000 people, so I never thought we’d be able to play places this big,” drummer Patrick Carney added. “I do know things have changed a little bit, because we’ve been touring for a very long time, and every single show, I sweat through an entire shirt and pair of pants, and after almost every show, I ask our tour manager if I could have some laundry done; and yesterday, my laundry was done for the first time.”
Clean pants are very important. And while the Keys are still very firmly in the eye of the El Camino storm, they’ve already laid out a list of goals they’d like to accomplish in 2012 (“We just want to make it through without getting some pneumonia or something like that,” Auerbach joked), which, as they told MTV News following the premiere of their “Gold on the Ceiling” video, also includes plans for a new album — if they find the time, of course.
“We actually just talked about it a couple days ago,[but] we can’t really [write on the road],” Auerbach said. “It’s kind of impossible, because we’re both so insecure that we don’t like messing up in front of people, and that’s all we do when we try to write songs, is mess up over and over again. [But] Maybe [by the] end of this year, who knows?”

NEW YORK — Losing isn’t pretty, just ask Gisele Bundchen. After her husband, Tom Brady, and his New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the New York Giants on Sunday night, the supermodel had a few choice words for the quarterback’s teammates — and it was all captured on camera.
“My husband cannot f—ing throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time,” she said, expressing her feelings about the disappointing loss. “I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”
Bundchen has since been heavily criticized for the comments. While some fans argue that the supermodel was only defending her husband, others took issue with her placing the blame on Brady’s teammates.
But there’s one camp that definitely has Bundchen’s back: the Victoria’s Secret Angels. MTV News caught up with some of the ladies on Wednesday (February
at the Victoria’s Secret Kiss and Tell Valentine’s Day Event, and they had a lot to say about the onetime Angel.
“I think that everybody was getting so into the game, and I think that it’s her husband and she just really cared about it,” Lindsay Ellingson said. “I don’t think she meant anything bad by what she said and she was just so passionate, I don’t blame her. [She was] standing up for her man.”
Although model Doutzen Kroes she didn’t know exactly what was said on Super Bowl night, she argued that Bundchen was justified.
“I don’t know the whole deal about it,” Kroes said, “[But] I think you always have to stand up for your husband, you’re a team. And you know if she did that, I would’ve done the same.”
Fellow Brazilian Adriana Lima, who had her own Super Bowl highlights with two prime-time commercials, quickly came to the defense of her friend, saying, “Leave her alone!”

We are only two episodes into the second season of “The Voice,” and already there is some news about the hit NBC show’s third season.
According to TheWrap, Christina Aguilera has signed a contract to continue her stint on the judging panel for a third season of the singing competition. Aguilera is the first of the four judges to ink her deal, a payday for which is supposedly in the $10 million realm.
TheWrap also reports that the third season could premiere in the fall rather than waiting until 2013; this would potentially put “The Voice” in direct competition with Fox’s “X Factor.”
When MTV News reached out for comment from NBC, a show insider said no decision has been made about season three.
It is expected that Aguilera’s fellow judges Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will all renew their contracts in the coming weeks and that the third season will tape from September through December of this year.
“The Voice” has proven to be a major hit for NBC. The season-two premiere following the Super Bowl on Sunday earned NBC’s best ratings for an entertainment show in six years. Monday’s episode earned the network’s best numbers for that particular timeslot in nearly eight years, save for broadcasts of the Olympics.
When MTV News caught up with the show’s new social media correspondent Christina Milian recently, the singer/actress gushed about the lovefest on set.
“It’s been fabulous. I’ve had fun working with the cast already,” she said. “Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Cee Lo, Carson Daly — it’s an awesome super team they have, and from day one, they treated me like family.
“This show is about music, it’s about talent, and it’s about this passion and this dream of becoming a star,” Milian added. “Still to this day, every day that I wake up, I have that same dream, so to be involved with the show, [it's amazing] to watch what they incorporate and how the coaches act as advisers and mentors to the artists and really truthfully help them and push them and want them to be the best so they can win.”

M.I.A.’s Super Bowl Middle Finger: Fans Weigh In
‘She should be looking for more positive publicity,’ one fan tells MTV News.

NEW YORK — M.I.A. made headlines during Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime show Sunday when she flipped off the cameras … and the 100 million-plus viewers tuning in at home. It was reported Tuesday that the controversial MC might be responsible for any FCC fines incurred because of her middle finger.
But who should be held responsible? And why did she do it in the first place? MTV News ventured to Times Square — where the New York Giants’ Super Bowl victory was celebrated earlier in the day with a parade — to see what people thought of M.I.A.’s flip decision.
“It was not good for her, because she’s still a young and up-and-coming artist, so she should be looking for more positive publicity,” Valon Jaloshey, 22, told MTV News. “That’s not the way to get it when you’re giving the middle finger at the biggest performance of your life.”
Maureen Kelley, 26, wasn’t surprised by the artist’s action but thinks her timing was inappropriate. “It’s definitely very M.I.A. to have done that,” Kelley said. “She probably shouldn’t have done it at the Super Bowl.” Kelley does have some advice for dealing with a potential fine: “Maybe she could just pretend that she was wiggling her fingers, I don’t know.”
M.I.A.’s fellow halftime performer Cee Lo Green, meanwhile, exclusively told MTV News late Monday that he knew nothing about the flip-off until the game was long over. “Honestly, I did not hear anything about it,” he said. “There was no talk about it in the dressing room afterwards and we didn’t stay long after the performance, because it was honestly a relief we had had it done. So I didn’t hear anything until I got up to do the morning show, ‘Today.’ And television is a very sensitive [thing].”
